If you wish to join us on this year’s winter walk, please book via email directly with Geoff by Sunday 8th February.
On receipt of numbers you will then be contacted requesting your choice of menu for the lunch to prevent long delays at the Waveney River Centre on arrival.
Carlton Marshes which is a fabulous reserve just behind Oulton Broad, so easy to access for most members. The marsh has recently been extended with a £1m+ fundraising effort and is run by the Suffolk Wildlife Trust. More details here.
The warden, Matt Gooch, is a mate and he is a very good guide. He is prepared to turn out on 23rd for us. I’d suggest we meet at the visitor centre at 11.00, have an hour’s walk with Matt and then head over to the ferry across the Waveney.
Lunch at the Waveney Inn at the Waveney River Centre at 13:00, a few minutes walk up from the ferry. After lunch, we reverse the trip and end up back at the car park. About 30 minutes walk back from the ferry to the car park.
Costs: I would like to suggest a £5/head donation to SWT for Matt’s help – they can claim gift aid and as a very worthwhile local charity. I hope LCC would support their work at Carlton. Then lunch as per menu. The ferry is £3/head return.
Cost for the winter walk without lunch choice will be £8.00 per person.
